All about the weather

So i was kind of frustrated the other day when i went to check out the weather for the mountain, as well as white salmon and just couldn't find a decent site to look at both things. So i finally got so fed up that i went to my dad who in his spare time found this awesome sight where you can check out the weather on the mountain here in white salmon and just about anything else you want to know about the gorge. The first URL is the link to this. The second URL is a link to the most in depth site i have ever found regarding the weather take a peek and see for yourself.
1.)http://thegorgeismygym.com/
PS: the author of this site is an avid athlete herself and the CONTACT ME button on her sight should definitely come in useful when viewing her webpage...after all she does a wonderful job in providing all of us gorge addicts with insider information on the latest, hikes, rides, and water sport locations, as well snow updates from the mountain. So we should at least thank her...Give a shout out to Temira when you see her :)
2.)http://www.wunderground.com/
PS: so initially you want to enter your location to view cool weather reports, as well as awesome blogs for anything and everything...thank you guys.
And so next time you are put in a situation like me and just can't find a good weather reporting website well then the answer to your problem lies in Ana's blog:)
And remember

:)))

SAY CHEESE :) well just smile because its good for you

Alright so i know that smiling really has nothing to do with white salmon although all the elderly people tend to smile quite often in white salmon but that is beside the point.
according to one website People smile when they are feeling emotions not related with stress, angry, grief, and so on and so forth. But people do smile when they are expressing friendly emotions and also when they are actually tickled by someone because the body is touched at some weak points which then releases hormones which then releases the feeling of pleasure and so then causing breathlessness and a smile. Hmmm no wonder why so many young couples are breathless and smiling ALL the time.Apparently smiling is also rooted deep within our primate nature. And when we smile we send out a message to others that makes the person who smiled much more easier to approach. Hmmm then why don't girls or guys looking for a date smile more? Also sometimes people will smile when nervous to disguise their nervousness. interesting i had that habit for a LONG time :) Moving on....
http://www.letusfindout.com/why-do-people-smile/
Okay so another interesting reason why you should smile. well actually another 5 good reasons to smile is....
1.) It will boost your happiness
2.) a smile will change your state
3.) a smile changes other peoples state
4.) why would you not want to smile.
5.) smiling is way easier then frowning.
please view the URL below for short paragraphs on why each one is beneficial.
http://www.positivityblog.com/index.php/2006/10/05/5-reasons-why-you-should-smile-more/
so now that you know some more....what do you think? are you going to smile more or keep that frown on your face?

Whats the deal with smiling?

Alright so before I answer this question with thorough research....(cough,cough) I wanna hear from you. Why do you smile? Why do you find it beneficial?

Wow this could take some motivation in the art of making friends and having fun :)

The Columbia Gorge Running club, so much to say about this awesome club and yet so little time.. well to start with you make friends.. tons of them and when you do races you sometimes do them with your best buddies from this club. People from all over the gorge gather together near stevenson to train for races all over the nation. though some people might only do 5K's others will go on to do marathons. It does not matter because you make tons of friends have fun and do it all over again the next day. It is available for people of all strengths.. so no this is not an exclusive club rather inclusive. they do runs all over the gorge and when you are ready to race.. YOU ARE READY TO RACE =)
check out the website below for more information but also keep in mind the current race that they are training for is the White Salmon BackYard dash you know that one i was telling you about that is all uphill at the beginning but all downhill at the end and finishes at Everybody's brewing pub house....get ready to get your partying on...the race happens Saturday, June 18th at 9 am oh and you all know how much we love free so to let you all know this event is FREE.. well up to the point when  you go and get a beer after the race :)
signing off and think about it all you runners out there a free race and a nice beer, or possible juice for the little ones.. (just in case bring your own) :)
Check out the site and join !

ommmm to meditation

Alright guys i might have talked about this earlier but there is this awesome meditation practice that goes on every tuesday nights from 7-8:30 pm at the Samadi Yoga studio. I swear you can feel the energy reverberating around the building as well as hear the snores reverberating from me. ;) you can't blame me being 17 and trying to meditate can get difficult especially when your social life wipes you out. I know I know it's a choice.
Anyway the irony of the hermitage is back on Whidbey Island dad finally started picking up on meditation and you could call it fate that when we moved here to quaint little White Salmon that has nothing... so did a sector of the buddhist monastery located in california, until VOILA our own hermitage.
Currently the monks are in a winter retreat, and just to add a side note i don't know how much fun that would be considering that they live at the top of Snowden, which does get quite snowed-in (see what i did there..no pun intended though.)
The three monks make a daily 12 mile hike round trip i believe to gather alms or food from local businesses and such...if by chance they do not get food then usually they will fast the day away. (i could NOT do that.) One of the monks that moved here at the start of the hermitage has just returned to california and is now replaced by another monk...their names are so long i am just going to have to leave you with that. Below is the URL leading to their webpage, and or blog so check it out and make sure to give them some alms on their rounds...
http://hermitage.abhayagiri.org/Support/alms-route
Also the monks have no possession of money and so gladly accept offerings of material items. So if you are interested in donating to a good cause call the number below and make a difference (cheesy i know)
please call  Joan Benge: 503-636-9836

Let it snow let is snow let it snow

It's like march over here and look at this 3" of snow...hmmm something wrong with this picture?

New Movie

Hey guys latest good movie happening right across the river in Hood River is 127 hours. Excellent movie for people who are adventurous and love sports will go crazy over this. Some guy cuts his arm off so that he can escape death. Deep Huh definitely a recommended see, playing only at the Skylight Theatre in White salmon. if you are under the age of 21 you have to go to the 6pm showing anytime after that is off limits to people who can't drink....i know tell me about it. Great movie check it out here is the synopsis and then i have a quick question...
www.starpulse.com › Movies › Other
Alright so if you were hiking and got your arm trapped under a massive bolder and the only way to get out alive is to cut your own arm off would you do it?

So i was Thinking.

Yesterday i was reading in the latest edition of the windurfing magazine that you would be crazy to not want to be adopted by Kai Lenny's family. So i am actually interested in hearing what you guys out there thing. If you got offered to be adopted by Kai Lenny's family would you do it? If you are totally unsure of who kai lenny even is please view the URL below and then of course the picture underneath that.

The Solstice

Since i was talking about good breakfast food last post this place is on the way to winning a gold medal for it's awesome fire-baked pizza's. extra thin crusts loaded with assorted meats fruit vegetables and tomato sauces's...i can already feel my tummy grumble... check out the camera roll from our last visit there.

Yummy French Food

So the other day i was on my way to Columbia Gorge Community College in The Dalles and i was really hungry. i kinda ran out of my house because i was late and ended up forgetting to grab something to eat. i was driving down one of the streets in The Dalles and found this amazing restaurant called Petite Provence. i knew right then i wanted to eat there. i quickly parked and as soon as i marched through the door it was like being in France again. The fresh smell of Croissants wafted through the air and a nice quaint menu of food and drinks was posted next to Paniers full of Du pain....(bread) I gotta say next to the Solstice with their fire baked Pizza's the Petite Provence is the best place to get breakfast items that are rich in flavor.

Yoga a la White Salmon

I recently discovered that there is this awesome Yoga studio 10 minutes walking distance from my house. So i wanted to share that with you. There are plenty of available times to go to the studio there are usually things going on in the morning, midday day, and night. One of my favourite classes to attend is the Bollywood classes, because you break a sweat and also have fun while doing it. Another interesting class that has recently been on the top hottest classes to go to is meditation. yeah i know right meditation. who would have thought. to be honest  i have strong feelings of dislike for that class since day one but now that i have gotten to experience the class some its been great, i can kinda feel myself calming down.. though for some of you who may know me that might seem impossible....
well anyways check it out you only have to pay $60.00 a month for unlimited access to all the classes and then just show up and have fun the gear is provided well everything except the clothes on your back :)

Another excellent cite

Another really good cite that you might want to check out in case you are looking to get fit is
http://www.bodyrock.tv/2011/02/13/bodyrocker-stephon-is-back-with-his-own-workout/
This is just an awesome way to allow you to work out at home whether it be because you have kids and really can't escape or because you are being frugal and looking to stay fit. This and the previous post are the best ways to go.

Even though we are in the best gym....

i happened to find this awesome workout website for some of us that really don't want to spend tons of money going to a gym every year. Scooby shows excellent ways to strenghthen all the parts of your body not just your legs and abs..(the biggest target of our workouts.) but also your neck, back, shoulders, anything and everything else that is too numerous to mention please see the sight below

Koberg

there is a bit of a catch when it comes to finding this awesome beach that is little known to public. When you coming from white salmon and just getting off the bridge, head towards Mosier and then exit once you reach Mosier double back and look for the rest area that says Koberg beach.... it is about five miles out from Hood River. This place is an awesome place to relax, there is a nice sandy beach for moms to watch kids and also a shallow entrance into the Columbia river so that the little ones can find enjoyment... I would recommend wet suits especially for the little ones. The highlight of Koberg is the cliff that provides a satisfactory jumping perch. Many young adults find that they enjoy the adrenaline rush as they jump from 20 feet off the perch and then plunge into the cool Columbia below. This action is not recommended for anyone under the age of 13 because there can be severe damage done if not attempted correctly and we do not take responsibility :) Make your kids wear helmets if you fear that they might hit their head or have them jump from the lower beam

right in your back yard

We live right in white salmon and barely have to go a mile to hit the trails for an hour or two biking, hiking and running. A favorite spot is hospital hill. The land that all of us sport fanatics make use of is private so maps are unavailable. It's a hard ride but once you get to the top it's paradise because all you are faced with is downhills and views of the gorge. Getting up top is going to be hard unless you have trained to do about an hour and half uphill but as long as you bring water and a camera. Some extra food would be recommended. I won't spoil the sweet surprises that await you when you go up hospital hill but i will say if you are still sitting on your couch reading this get up and go!
